How to Pro Pack

Yes. I know how to pack. However, I still like to watch other skydivers and packers techniques. You never know what you might learn.

A couple things I noticed about watching this video is how meticulous and perhaps even anal of a packer I am. Maybe that is good, maybe that is bad. I don’t know. I pack with the mindset that this is my only canopy, and it has to work. Regardless, I posted these videos because there are not many good ‘How to Pack’ videos on the net. I felt that these are worthy of being noted. So for any new jumpers learning how to pack take a look at these and watch them for a good reference. For the vets, take a look tell us what you think.

For the newbies I still recommend Performance Deisgns (PD) Pro Packing Video for a thorough pack job and very good narration by Scott as to what to do, why, and why we are doing it in regards to our pack job. The PD Packing Video used to be available at skydivingmovies.com but the site has been down and is currently still down. So, I don’t know where else you can get it as of right now. If you can get your hands on a copy though, grab it!

What I do like about Mikey’s pack job is how he left what is usually the first S fold after cocooning the canopy and S folding (the part with the label) last. I do like that. But it seems like there might be some potential for the brake lines shifting around when you do this. In saying that though, there could be potential for it doing the S fold first, as well.

My only concern with Mikey’s pack job in part 2 of these videos is he didn’t roll the bag forward in the container. I was taught to do this, and PD recommends this as well. Actually what Scott from PD recommends in the video is to just set the bag in the container in the position the bag would be after rolling it forward. Basically just placing the D-Bag in the container with the bridle side of the D-Bag already at the top against the bottom of your reserve.

I hope somebody finds these video useful. If anything a good topic for a discussion about packing.

Thanks to dalebrownskydiver for the camera work and queries, and Mikey from Skydive Elsinore for his packing display.

hi very good little web-site ya have there :-) I work with the same exact theme on my own yet for whatever issue it looks to load more rapidly on yours despite the fact that this site includes far more multimedia. Have you been working with any specific plug ins or widgets which quicken it up? Do you think you might be able to have the widgets so that I might use these on my personal web pages so twilight breaking dawn followers could watch twilight breaking dawn online trailers and films more easily I’d always be thankful – thank you ahead of time :)

Hi Kristen,

I’m not sure what theme you are talking about, but this theme is custom built by myself. I did indeed try to visit your blog, but it would not load, or if it did, it was very slow. I think this is due to the fact that it is hosted on squidoo. I could be wrong though. All the best with your blogging!
